Regular readers of my blog will know that when it comes to going strapless I am incredibly fussy. There are strapless bras that fit me and give me a certain level of support, but I was everything and a bit more from a strapless bra. I want an incredible shape, perfect uplift and great support, and I know I cannot expect that at a natural 36H, and in that case I am happy to forgo strapless options.
I recently received a strapless bra from Elomi that sadly fell slightly short of my personal and crazy expectations. However, it did work ok for me, and as my blog is about showing my favourite pieces as well as pieces that work for me and my size and shape, I wanted to share it with you.
This is the Maria strapless bra from Elomi, size 36H/2XL. It comes with straps so that you can wear it as a halterneck or racer back or one strap bra – whatever you fancy! I was really impressed by it when I first tried it on as I did not have high hopes for it. The cups are thick and unpadded and it has four hooks and eyes. They were rather difficult to do up, but at least I had a firm band to offer me perfect. I am generally a 34HH in Eveden (Freya/Fantasie/Elomi) and so this is true to strapless sizes at a 36H.
It does give me uplift, that shape is pretty awesome and it feels perfect around my back. The cups do fit, but due to the fact that they slightly shift on me during wearing them I have a slight ‘busting out’ look. I think it would be the same at every size unless the bra were to stick to me in some way. I do think that with a dress with the right structure this would be perfect. It comes in Ivory and is listed as a bridal piece – so there’s an idea for me…
The bra and perfectly fitted matching knickers both have some lovely lace detail on them – again ticking that bridal box. The sheer bottom on the knickers is a great cheeky touch as well – quite literally
The beautiful CurvyWordy (who is around a 32L if my memory serves me correctly) also tried this bra on and was shocked at how well it supported her. I think that will continue to be a surprise hit for women who think that strapless bras in larger cup sizes are completely impossible.
I recently wore it at my shoot with My Boudoir, my hair and make up was done by the ever wonderful (and hopefully my bridal hair and make up artist) Sarah Elliott. The corset is, of COURSE my What Katie Did Morticia.
Have you tried the Maria bra? Does it fill you with hope to see how well it supports my bust?
