A Review Of The Panache Serenity Strapless Bra

As promised, I will be trialling and reviewing bridal products during the lead up to my own big day – and hopefully I can find the perfect finishing touches in the process!

Some weeks ago I reviewed the Serenity basque from Panache – click here for the review. And today I will be showing you it’s strapless sister, also in a 36H/2XL.

serestrapless2

Just like the basque, this set came with a gorgeous gem detail on the central gore, the knickers and the suspender belt – a replica of the jewellery that the designer Debbie wore on her wedding day. The set is minimalistic without being boring, but detailed enough to still be classic and beautiful.

serestrapless1

As with the baasque, the band was extremely firm, and the cups came up slightly small. I think that a 38H or maybe even HH would be a better fit for me in this in terms of comfort and appearance. However, the lift and support I get in a 36H is extremely good.

The matching 2XL briefs could do with a little more booty coverage, but the suspender belt is spot on and helps disguise the slight digging in. It comes with four straps, and to those I attached some stockings from The Big Tights Company.

As with the basque, I feel that this bra would really benefit from a structured dress if you are a similar size to me. It does a great job of lifting and shaping my bust but it might need a little persuasion to stay in place all day!

Elomi Bijou

I say it every time but it’s so true – Elomi are just amazing at evolving their collections every season. Once quite a frumpy bland brand, they are now the ones I look forward to seeing the most at every Eveden press event as they just keep getting better.

I recently tried a style that I have wanted to get my tits on (or in) for ages – the Bijou set in black.

BIJOU-BLACK-UNDERWIRED-BANDED-MOULDED-BRA-8720-SHORT-8726

11875.fullzoom

The Bijou is a moulded plunge that is available in sizes 34-44 E-H. The straps have a racer back option and the band had three hooks and eyes. It’s quite a simple bra in terms of patterns, but the black features some pink bows and stitch details.

Elomi3

I tried this set in a 34H/XXL and found the bra to be a very snug comfortable fit. The plunge is very low and it’s super firm across my boobs – unlike something like the Deco which features wider straps and a less dramatic plunge.

Elomi2

I did find that I popped out of the bra slightly, but I don’t believe that this was a sizing issue, I simply think that this style would suit women who have breasts that are fuller on the bottom and struggle to get cleavage in a plunge bra. I know of women who fall out of the Deco because of their breasts being fuller at the bottom, and I think the firmness of this style would suit them perfectly.

Elomi1

The racer back option is a very nice touch and very easy to clip up. It makes the bra feel even more supportive without it digging in or feeling restrictive.

The knickers are so soft and such a lovely fit, even on a generous derriere like mine. The can be pulled up to be slightly high waisted, but I do wish they were just a tiny bit higher on me as I do love a retro like set.

Kix’ies Thigh Highs

I can’t remember when I first became aware of Kix’ies thigh highs, but I do recall that I suddenly saw that signature pinstripe hold up top everywhere – and I wanted to know more!
Kixies-6

And so when the Kix’ies gang approached me and offered me the chance to try a pair I was over the moon!
Being that I am 5’7 and around a size 18, I went for the size D (as indicated by the size chart) and I eagerly awaited their arrival.

As soon as the postman delivered them I knew exactly what was inside the package, and I swiftly tore the package open and put them on! Annoyingly, despite my gentle handling of them, I was a little too rough and managed to put a small hole in one of them – these false nails are a gift and a curse! I found that they didn’t come up as high as I am used to, and I think I was determined to make them sit further up my legs. However, I soon realised that my reason for wanting high hold ups was that they would often dig in or fold, and the Kix’ies were not about to do any of that. The silicone top held firm and didn’t show any signs of going rogue.

I was worried that the subtle spot pattern would make my already sizeable legs seem enormous, but it was actually very subtle and looked great. The signature band was also something that I worried might look odd on me, but I loved the way it made my legs look.

I spent several hours in the hold ups as I pottered around my flat and did a bit of cleaning and sorting. They did not budge or chafe me at all! Amazing! I would say that they would definitely fit thighs that are larger than mine, but if you are larger and taller they may end up being over the knee stockings.

So all in all I adored my first experience of Kix’ies. I really hope to nab a few more pairs in a few different designs, and I can’t wait to watch their world domination continue!

At present, I do not know of any UK retailers bar maybe a few on eBay, but you can order Kix’ies direct from their website.

Stocking Seams

When you’re a woman of a certain height and size, you sometimes get used to certain finishing touches passing you by. One of those has to be plus size hosiery – and not just any plus size hosiery, plus size retro style stockings!

Luckily, my absolute favourite plus size tights company had just the thing in the shape of their brand new beige seamed stockings.

Seamed1

I tried these in a size 30/32, and despite wearing a tightly laced corset I had no trouble getting these on and up to a good height on my legs. I am 5’7 and a size 18 so I am at the smaller end of the spectrum, but these had a lot of give in them without being baggy.

Seamed2

The stockings have a Cuban heel, and the seam at the back is subtle yet perfect.

Seamed3

I am ever so slightly tanned, and these are a tad pale on me, but it’s not noticeable.

Seamed4

I’m not the most elegant of ladies, and my false nails have been known to wreak havoc on a number of items. However, these passed the test for resilience and they came away hole free!

Seamed5

As stocking are liable to do, these sagged a little at my inner thighs where there were no suspender clips. However, it was nothing drastic or uncomfortable!

All in all I love these stockings. It’s fab to see The Big Tights Company providing items for women who want that timeless glamour in larger sizes.

The knickers are from an old Elomi set.

Ruby&Spice

When Curvy Kate brought out their black&almond babydoll last year I fell in love. And so when the ruby&spice version came out this year I knew that I just had to have it! Red is a colour that Robbie, me and my wardrobe cannot get enough of, and this fiery little pinstriped number was the perfect vivid shade.

redritzy1

As stated in my review of the black&almond babydoll, I tried this previously in a 36GG. And so this time I went true to size with a 36H/20, and it was a far better fit!

redritzy2

The straps are fully adjustable and the extremely firm band has three hooks and eyes. The peephole just below the band means that there is enough room to wiggle in and out of the babydoll with out getting a boob stuck. The length is perfect on my 5’7 frame.

redritzy3

The shape of the cups is so perfect. It gives my top heavy boobs a glorious orb shape without them spilling over. I’d say that a 36H is perfect for me in this, but as I stated before the band is super super firm, and so you may want to size up (and therefore down a cup) if you are between sizes.
The size 20 knickers are spot on. They have enough butt coverage, they don’t dig in and they are so so comfy. They also have a small peephole detail at the back, and like the central gore of the bra they have a gem and bow on them at the front centre.
